THE BEGINNING OF ICEFLAME GAMES

Aiko Island was the first game that we worked on. IceFlame started because Jon Shaw had just left his job at TT Games with the aim of doing something new and David Deacon had been made redundant because of the sad closure of Free Radical.  David had been experiementing with coding and had already put the frame work together for Aiko Island in his spare time. It made sense that this should be the first project as most the components were already there from the start. All that was needed was for Jon to create the art style and levels. This said, Aiko Island experienced "feature creep" and had what started as a relatively simple game, turned into a bit of a monster.

At the beginning the game, which was about popping the red Aikos with your finger and saving the blue, quickly developed other mechanics including a cannon, springs, ropes, moveable platforms and TNT that would launch Aiko's across the screen to achieve your goal. Which was to get the cookies back off the thieving reds.

Aiko Island was a critical success and had some good reviews from the press and players alike. It was a good learning experience in making and launching a game. The game has since been removed from the App Store as it needs some crucial updates. We might look to make an update for it in the future with some more resources. As it stands, it's a part of our past and something we are proud of looking back.
